Bridge Project

The project

In summer 2015 Train to Create brought together fifteen photography students from two major European universities, to take part in a unique creative, exchange program. The project saw students from each university collaborating on joint projects, based on topics such as “inner cities”, identity and community.
The Phase One of the project was focused on Pier Paolo Pasolini’s work and his relationship with the city of Rome. The objective was for the students to see the parts of the city less explored by touristic routs yet still displaying a strong Roman character. The whole journey was documented every step of the way by the participants and Train To Create in the form of online diaries and video logs; and broadcasted through social media and a dedicated online platform.

The second phase will close with exhibitions of both participating countries, as well as the production of a printed publication. A dedicated documentary of the experience filmed by Train to Create, will also be broadcasted online and shared through our partner’s channels.

DAY 1 | THE SEMINAR
The first day opened with a large seminar, in which Train to Create presented the Bridge Project to a group of students, professionals and semi-professionals photographers. The seminar analyzed the educational value of documenting such experiences, shifting then focus on the possible synergies between documentary filmmaking, commercial photo shoots and fashion.
The hosting students prepared a brief on Pasolini and the production for 3 full days of shooting following Pasolini’s footsteps in Rome.

DAY 4 | FEEDBACKS AND POST PROCESSING
On the fourth day, the students gathered at “Lost and Found Studio” in order to review the photographies produced the previous days. The editing process involved firstly the UEL students in presenting the selection of the photos they did during the two shooting days around Rome; then, students from Rome provided feedback on the global output of the concept arrangements and the quality of the works. The day ended with the Post-processing session with the help of the tutors, the Train To Create Team and the use of Wacom Graphic devices and colour calibration devices from X-Rite.
